How about an update Michael? Hows the healing coming along?

--

Thanks for asking. I am i month post op now and seeing m y nose take shape. Although the area around my nostrils to the tip is hard and swollen. My profile is deprojected and has a great shape, a guy's nose no pixie turn up. The tip is so much thinner and defined. Everything is healing well. I am so greatful that it's over and this is the result. Even if the swelling never went away I would be happy with it like this! It truly is 100 percent improvement.I just don't know why everyone is Toriumi happy. Is like an expensive car is better than a Honda just because it's more expensive? I will post pics but guys please give me a few months. I am happy to be back to the land of the living so to speak. Surgery and recovery truly sucks.

--

Glad to hear you are doing better Michael, you have had a hard time. Are you following up with the surgeon in SF and how is that working out?

As far as Toriumi, have you seen some of the bad results on Marianne's board lately? Not the ones he hand-picks for his marketing/promotion/papers. I think he is 80% marketing, he publishes noses that weren't all that bad to start to make himself look good. People look at all 5 examples on his website (promotion) and his high fees (hype) and conclude that he is the "best". I've seen people write "there must be a reason he charges so much he must be good" which is a sad commentary on surgery and very far from the truth, using the logic that "expensive = good".

Mark where do you get the bad result, it is so unfair to say that rally that is irresponsible, I am not saying he is great and I agree no nose job is worth what he is charging but for people that are desperate and have had multiple revision he does have the higher chance of fixing their issues. all those photos have the before and it clearly show at least a good 50% improvement, unless some is blind or looking for impossible. I know in one picture the profile was really hight and not asthetically pleasing but that was exactly what he had imaged for her as I know the owner of the picture, I do not get it, if you had their before nose and get the after would you want to have another revision, unless some functional or asthetic problem arises that is not obvious in the picture. can you point at the pictures that you considered bad result and maybe dfefine what is bad result???

you can say all about his outrages fees but it was comforting to me to see that even in the pictures that were not hand pic I could see at least a good 50% improvement constantly delivered!

Don't blow a gasket. My opinion is different than yours. No one said we have to agree. I think some of the results are bad regardless of the cost, I don't want to name them because one was posted without the owner's permission. Go, go, go, go have a revision with Toriumi already if that is what you want, it isn't your job to convince everybody. Or is it yourself you are trying to convince?

If someone told you that was the revision work of Daniel you would likely think it was poor work as well. Just because a bad result has the name Toriumi attached suddenly makes it better?

--

that is not true at all, there is so much difference between Daniel's work and T's work, Daniel does have the better asthetic and I can see that but his noses due collpase and have multiple as you can see few posters have come and complained about, T might be behind in asthetic but all I am saying is he does give a lasting improvements, as some of these pics at least 2 of them were 2 years post opt. as for me convincing others to go to T that is not my business and place and obvisouly if I want to go to him I will and your comments will not stop me, I am just giving my opinion and hate for people to be judgemental I give the credit where it is due. his result were great improvements in all these cases but not the best asthetic. you can think what you like to, and call me whatever name you want to.

It is sad that we have to buy our noses and fight over doctors. Toriumi's fees are not even in the ball park of revision prices. They somehow jump to double and what is with the surgery room fees? Why does he operate out of a hospital that charges the same as maybe critical brain surgery. Why can't he at least have his own operating facility that would give his patients some kind of break? Karma works in mysterious ways and I will tell you all now his will come. You can't just take you need to give in order for balance in one's life. God forbid but what if he lost the ability to operate by some awful accident to his hands or eyesight? He has taken advantage of the people that are in need. I wonder if he ever does any charity surgey in under developed countrys like Quatela and other surgeons do? Just a thought.

--

I wonder whether T. is a partial owner or investor in the surgery center where he operates, which is not unheard of with these guys. If so, then he would really be doing quite well for himself per surgery, while sending some patients in desperate need of help to the poor house. There are a few docs who refer really difficult cases to T and those patients may feel that he is their last hope and so will scrape together the money. One woman on the rhino4you site was out of pocket 36K after two revisions that she was unhappy with.

I really feel badly for those revision patients who have gone into debt to pay for multiple failed surgeries to fix a botched rhino. It's a very tough emotional/psychological burden to bear.

--

I believe he has a financial interest in the surgery center.

--

I believe he has a financial interest in peoples bank accounts!
I agree with Michael, if Dr Toriumi really cared, he would volunteer his services in third world countries where people cannot afford it, children have cleft palates and are deformed, just like Dr Quatela and Dr Menick do.
Im starting to believe his office is like a meat market. For crying out loud T cant even remember what he said to you from one consult to another!
His best work is on his website and publications, but in reality, the people who post and complain have alot of real issues.
Yes there is contracture with scar tissue, but who wants to wait 10-15 years to have a nice looking nose?
