It is a difficult choice. Lately I'm leaning toward irradiated ribs.

--

who are these two surgeons you believe to be good with ear, and why so? thanks

--

Steve,

I've never been a fan of irradiated rib, have you learned good things about it that you can share with us? Also, did you have complications from ear harvesting? My ear didn't heal smoothly, most people I know don't seem to have any issues though. Also, didn't you go to Quatela years ago,or am I confusing you with someone else?

Dean

--

I have spoken to a few doctors about ear grafts, they claim if the graft is taken from inside the ear rather from behind, that there would be no change in the position and no visible scarring.
When you say there are problems with ear grafts, are you referring to the grafts on the dorsum or tip?
I too would like to know more about donor rib.

--

I know that Dr Toriumi is not using ear for spreader grafts any more, he seems to be ok using for baten graft or tip but not spreader grafts, however most of his patients about 3 years ago had ear grafts which is what he was using and some are happy with it and some have had problems, I need some strong spreader graft and that would be the only reason I would need to have rib used and that seems bit scary to go through rib graft just for the spreader grafts.

--

Are you saying that ear grafts are only good for tip work and spreader grafts? They cannot be used to build up a dorsum?

--

I've had all ear grafting with my Sheen revisions (from 9799) on dorsum, tip and tip sides (not sure what this is called). Sheen did not use alar batten grafting on me. my grafts are very lumpy and the tip grafts have not offered much support. I am not sure if this is due to techinique in placing them or if my ear cartilage grafts were not strong enough. I think you'd have to ask a bunch of ear graft patients and see how they fare to get a good answer. It seems rib might be better for long term results.

--

My tip still droops and if anything, the graft made my nose tip look wider (bulbous) and looks obviously done.
I hate it.
I would have rather had a 70's old fashion nose job then this !!!!!!!!!!!!At least those nose jobs stayed put.

<span class= Rhinoplasty Network © 2009 | Rhinoplasty | Sitemap
