medpor vs. silicone implant

--

i'm also asian and i would advise you against getting an implant - i've heard that they are not a lifelong solution and you will most likely have to get it removed 10 or 20 years down the line (similar to breast implants that have to be replaced every 10 years). i got a medpor implant 3 years ago and it was one of the biggest mistakes of my life - it was rock hard, fake-looking and it triggered an auto immune disorder and i had all sorts of health problems. i had surgery with Toriumi 6 months ago - he removed the medpor implant and replaced with a rib graft. i am so happy and relieved that the fake stuff is out of my body! my health is noticably improved, i can breathe better and my nose is looking great. yes, he's very expensive, but worth every penny. I have my health back, i (FINALLY) have a nose that i am happy with...and after 6 years of enduring this nose nightmare and 3 surgeries, I have my life back and i'm moving on.

Good luck to you. stay away from the implants. Why do it when your own cartiliage (rib) is available?

Good for you Ginger! It's nice to hear a positive story. Continued good healing!

Go with the rib. It is a much safer option in the long run. Porex is difficult to remove and a lot of doctors don't work with it. You would be hard pressed to find a doctor who can work with you if you get the porex graft. Trust me, I know.
