Dr. Hilinski Interview - Chat
Dr. Hilinski Interview
1. How long you have been a plastic surgeon?
since 2001.
2. How many Rhinoplasties have you done in that period?
hundreds
3. What do you specifically love about the Rhinoplasty procedure?
It is the most challenging and complex plastic surgery procedure
to perform; it requires
a true passion for understanding and respecting the function
and esthetics of
the nose; every single one is different and demands an individualized
approach; very few surgeons in the world take the time and
effort to master
the wide range of technical skills required for rhinoplasty;
4. Besides rhinoplasties what other procedure do you feel you excel at ?
Face lifts and eyelid rejuvenation; my practice is entirely
devoted to cosmetic
enhancement of the face and neck.
5. Do you consider the Rhinoplasty procedure as one of the
hardest procedures?
if so why?
Unequivocally the hardest procedure to do correctly with
long-lasting results; there are some many variables and dynamic
components to
consider; it is hard to escape the fact that your patient¹s
nose is at the
center of the face and cannot be camouflaged from view;
6. Also should anyone considering the Rhinoplasty procedure
go to any plastic
surgeon?
You will do yourself a favor by going to someone who has
advanced
training in rhinoplasty theory and surgical technique and
one who performs
rhinoplasty as a regular part of their plastic surgery practice;
7. Was there any surgeons who were instrumental in your success
at become a
plastic surgeon?
Dr. Dean M. Toriumi
8. Can you give us your philosophy regarding plastic surgery in general?
The ultimate goal is to achieve natural appearing results
that are in harmony and
balance with the surrounding facial features. If it means
choosing between
leaving a nose, face or jaw line looking ³less done² yet still
natural looking,
versus more surgical sculpted but unnatural, I will always
opt for the former.
There is a noticeable difference between nature¹s irregularities
and a
surgeon¹s irregularities.
9. Dr. Hilinksi do you ever turn people away .. if so why?
Absolutely, Individuals who appear to have unrealistic goals
in terms of surgical desires
and results. Although as surgeons we are always internally
striving to achieve
perfection, it is unrealistic to think that true perfection
will ever be
achieved through cosmetic surgery.
10. Dr. Hilinksi many visitors that come to our site are
looking to revise a
previous Rhinoplasty. are you skilled at revision Rhinoplasty?
and How much of
your work would you say is fixing the mistakes of other surgeons?
I have extensive training and experience in revision rhinoplasty
technique; about 50%
of my rhinoplasty consultations involve revision of other
surgeons¹ work;
11. Dr. Hilinksi thank you so much for doing the interview
with us. Is there
anything you would like to add before we conclude?
Patients should realize there is a very broad spectrum of
potential results following rhinoplasty; in many cases, patients
are seeking to reshape only a certain part of their nose
while leaving other parts alone. Someone else with a similar
nose may be
looking to alter the shape in a different fashion. Potential
critics
(prospective patients and surgeons alike) should realize that
not every person
has similar tastes and, therefore, judgment of rhinoplasty
results is very
difficult due to subjective interpretation.
