Dr. Kanodia, can you give us a brief answer about how long you've been doing rhinoplasty, how many you do and why you love the operation so much?

21 years and I love because each nose is unique and I think it's an operation that requires tremendous aesthetic involvement and judgment.

Is a crooked nose usually shaved on the sides to give the illusion of being straight? That is what happened to me and I do not like it.

Dr. Kanodia

Crooked nose could be due to a lot of different anatomical problems and as a result has to be dealt with an individual bases.

I've heard you're very experienced with ethnic noses with thicker skin, is this true?

Dr. Kanodia

Yes, I do a lot of Asian, African-American, Persian and other noses. The key is to refine and not to change too much of surgical alteration it creates a surgical look w/c I don't like.

Even if a doctor has great skill in secondary nose surgery-are there some of those doctors that don't have an eye for beauty?

Dr. Kanodia

That's exactly right. A skillful plastic surgeon can do many of the other procedures well, but when it comes to noses it needs a very sophisticated eye for beauty.

How often do you need to do touchups on your own revisions Dr. kanodia?

Dr. Kanodia

2% of my own patients and they are minor touch ups because I was conservative in my initial judgment.

How many rhinoplasties have you performed?

I would say over 5000 thousand plus.

I only do close approach rhinoplasty. I only select patients where I can eliminate the problems from the previous surgery and reconstruct to make it look like a nose that looks like it has never been surgically altered.

How many noses a week would you say you do on average and what percentage are revisions?

Dr. Kanodia

Approx. 6 noses a week and out of that 1-2 revisions. 90% of my practice is rhinoplasty and maybe 15-20 percentage of the noses I do are revisions.

Do you use alloderm or fascia to give a smoother appearance in the tip?

Dr. kanodia

Filling the edges of the cartilage and having a thickest flap over the graft is the best shot of camouflaging the edges of the graft.
